Mark van den Hurk · DJ and event entertainment, the Netherlands
An idea, one conversation and a few photographs.
Mark van den Hurk started with an idea for his own DJ website, one conversation and a few photographs. Those inputs became the DJ Marcos identity and a bilingual site built around the evening he wanted to set.

What we built
The identity and a bilingual static website.
Domains
djmarcos.nl as the primary address, markvandenhurk.nl secured alongside it.
Mark had an idea for his own website, one conversation to explain it and a few photographs to work with. There was no existing site, identity or copy.
That concise starting point became a brief on 21 September 2026. Research and the first visual concepts followed on the same day.
The person behind DJ Marcos
Mark van den Hurk is a DJ who is part of the salsa community in the Netherlands. Salsa is part of his background, while the offer on the site is broader: DJ & feesten, Bruiloften, Host & entertainment and Bedrijfsevents.
As DJ Marcos, Mark says he has more than 30 years of experience as an all-round DJ. He plays weddings, birthdays and company events, reads the room and brings styles together.
Choosing the evening
The second concept set narrowed the visual question to three directions. Warm & veelzijdig leaned into warmth and range. Energie & karakter put more weight on pace and personality. Avond & allure treated the website like the beginning of an evening.
Which evening should this website set?
0101 Warm & veelzijdig
A warm and versatile direction from the second set of concepts.
0202 Energie & karakter
A direction built around energy and character.
0303 Avond & allure
The evening-led direction Mark selected for the site.
Selected by Mark
Mark chose Avond & allure, and that decision set the layout for the site.
The identity Mark chose
The identity went to Mark as three proposals rather than one finished answer. On 26 September 2026 he chose this one: a geometric M formed by beams of light, with a champagne gradient against evening blue and porcelain. Its working name was In the Spotlight v1.1.
That is how I try to work every time: several real options on the table, and the decision with the client. The look on the site is Mark's choice, not a preference handed to him.
Headings use Cormorant Garamond. The uppercase name uses DM Sans. The four-colour palette adds slate to evening blue, champagne and porcelain.

The brand package prepared for Mark includes an English brand book in PDF and 35 logo variants across SVG, PNG and PDF.
Building the website
The site is static HTML produced by a custom Python generator. Dutch is the primary language and the English version is complete.
Four animated hero cards introduce the offer. The DJ card uses a photograph of Mark. The rest of the site covers the services, the working process, Mark's own introduction, an FAQ and a separate Contact page with a service selector.

Publication and domains
The site went live on 26 September 2026. Its primary address is djmarcos.nl, and markvandenhurk.nl was secured for Mark alongside it, so his own name also leads to the site through a permanent 301 redirect.
One Let's Encrypt certificate covers every name the site answers to.

What one conversation carried
The first conversation did not arrive with a ready brand or a folder of website copy. It supplied enough to make the next decision, then put each following choice in front of Mark: the brief, the three directions, the selected identity and the public site.
What the project put in place
One identity, two secured domains and a site ready to be found.
01A coherent identity
The geometric M, palette, typography and website follow the direction Mark chose.
02A bilingual public site
The Dutch and English versions are indexable, with measurement held behind consent.
03Secured domains
The DJ name is the primary address, and Mark's own name is secured and redirects to it.
Master the Self Studio came to us as an idea and a written vision. No logo, no colours, no site. We built the brand, then the platform the studio runs itself.
SEMA builds fitted furniture in Szczecin. I have rebuilt its website several times over the years, written every word on it, and this time built the panel behind it too.
